Application

AV fistula needles cannulate the patient’s arteriovenous fistula or graft to establish the arterial and venous connections to the extracorporeal circuit during hemodialysis. Gauge selection depends on the prescribed blood flow rate and the condition of the vascular access — confirm the appropriate gauge with the treating clinician before ordering.

Storage and handling

• Store in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight and temperature extremes.
• Maintain sterile packaging integrity until use. Do not use if the packaging is damaged.
• Single use only. Do not reuse or resterilise.
• Cannulation and management by trained personnel under aseptic technique.
• Observe the expiry date and rotate stock.
• Dispose of used needles under the facility’s sharps and medical waste protocol.
